La Magna Competencia
Operación Éxito’s international science and math competition: students from several countries qualify online and spend a week in Puerto Rico leading up to the live final, competing for a US$100,000 scholarship.
The challenge
La Magna is the grand final of the Operación Éxito and La Nueva Escuela Virtual competitions. Students from Puerto Rico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Panama, Peru and India compete for the title of best in science and math, and for a US$100,000 scholarship.
The challenge had three fronts: reach students across the continent, run each country’s online qualifying rounds, and turn the final into a live show in a theater, with an audience and giant screens, without the technology failing for a second.
The solution
PuntoArg handled the competition end to end: the campaign, the online platform and the live final system.
- Print and digital campaign. Posters, brochures, flyers and ads for schools and education ministries, the finalist and winner pieces, banners and the landing pages for each edition.
- Competition and community platform. Student sign-up and licenses, each country’s online qualifying rounds, the ranking, Magna Gym for training through student challenges, and the photo and video galleries of each edition.
- Live final system. A platform to compete in a theater in several formats, from 1-on-1 duels to 20 contestants at once. Each one answers from their podium while the giant screen shows the question, the clock, the results and the interaction with the audience.
Between the qualifiers and the final, La Magna Ruta: a week of experiences in Puerto Rico, with scuba diving, Magüeyes Island, canyoning, an ultralight flight and a visit to La Fortaleza.
Results
La Magna reached its ninth edition at the San Juan Convention Center, with finalists from more than ten countries and winners from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Spain, Costa Rica, Peru and Argentina. What started as an exercise on the platform ended on a stage, in front of an audience, at “the most exciting science and math competition in the world”.
A campaign to reach students, teachers and education ministries across the continent.
