Your online store in Argentina: payments, shipping and invoicing without headaches

E-commerce in Argentina keeps growing. According to the Annual Study by the Argentine Chamber of E-commerce (CACE), over 34 trillion pesos were billed in 2025, with nominal growth of around 60% against 31% inflation, and some 645 million products were sold. In other words: people buy online more than ever. The question is whether they buy from you.

1. Payment methods: installments rule

Credit cards remain the most used method in Argentine e-commerce, at 67% of purchases in 2025, and installments are decisive: 9 out of 10 companies offer financing, mostly in six payments or fewer. Digital wallets and bank transfers grow every year.

Your store should offer, at the very least:

  • A reliable payment gateway (Mercado Pago, Modo, Payway, Mobbex or another) with credit and debit cards.
  • Installments, with the financing cost clearly shown on each product.
  • Digital wallets and transfers, with a discount if that’s how you prefer to get paid.
  • The final price visible from the start, with no surprises at the last step.

2. Shipping: the moment of truth

For delivery, home shipping is preferred by 52% of buyers, followed by pick-up points at 42%. Ideally you offer both, with the cost calculated automatically from the postal code by integrating the store with couriers and logistics providers.

Three things that reduce abandoned carts: showing the shipping cost before checkout, giving an estimated delivery date and sending the tracking code automatically.

3. Stock and catalog: a single source of truth

If you also sell in a physical store, on a marketplace or via WhatsApp, stock must be in sync. Nothing generates more complaints than selling something you don’t have. A well-built store connects to your management system or, if you don’t have one, becomes that system.

4. Automatic electronic invoicing

In Argentina electronic invoicing is mandatory and is issued through ARCA (formerly AFIP). Doing it by hand for every sale wastes time and invites errors. By integrating the store with an invoicing system, every approved purchase generates its invoice and emails it to the customer, with no one lifting a finger.

5. The experience: trust and speed

  • Real, good-quality photos from every angle.
  • Descriptions that answer the usual questions: size, materials, compatibility, warranty.
  • A short checkout that allows buying without creating an account.
  • Visible exchange and return policies, and the cancellation button required by consumer protection law.
  • A site that loads fast on the phone, since that’s where most visits come from.

Platform or custom store?

E-commerce platforms are a great way to get started. When the business grows and specific needs appear (wholesale price lists, ERP integrations, product configurators, B2B sales), a custom store or a well-integrated platform makes the difference.
